Prompt Vault

Prompt Vault ("the extension," "we," "us") saves your conversations with supported AI chat services (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity) as local files on your own computer. This policy explains what data the extension handles and, just as importantly, what it does not.

What Prompt Vault does with your data

Your conversations never leave your device. Prompt Vault does not operate a server, does not collect analytics, and does not transmit the content of your AI conversations anywhere.

What is stored, and where:

• When you save a conversation (automatically, if you're a paid user with autosave on, or manually), the extension reads the visible conversation text from the AI site's own page and writes it to a file (.txt, .md, .docx, or .html, depending on your settings) using your browser's normal download mechanism. These files are saved to your own computer, in a "Prompt Vault" subfolder of your regular Downloads folder — the same place any file you download normally goes.
• A small local record of what's been saved (filenames, timestamps, and a save log) is kept in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) so the extension can show you your save history and avoid saving duplicates. This record stays on your device.
• Your Founder/paid status (a simple yes/no flag).

What is never stored or transmitted:

• Your AI conversations are never sent to any server operated by us. The only place they're written to is your own local Downloads folder, as a file you control like any other downloaded file.
• We do not read, log, or have access to the content of your saved files.

Third-party services

Prompt Vault uses ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com) to process one-time payments for the paid ("Founder") tier, which in turn uses Stripe to handle the actual transaction. If you choose to purchase, ExtensionPay and Stripe receive the payment information necessary to process that transaction (such as your email address and payment details) under their own privacy policies: - ExtensionPay: https://extensionpay.com/privacy.txt - Stripe: https://stripe.com/privacy

Prompt Vault itself only receives back a simple paid/unpaid status from ExtensionPay — not your payment details.

Separately, the AI services you use (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity) have their own privacy policies covering how they handle your conversation while you're using their site — this extension only reads what's already visible on the page in your own browser, after that service has already rendered it.

Permissions this extension uses, and why

• storage — to save your local save-history record, as described above.
• downloads — to write the saved conversation files to your Downloads folder.
• alarms — to periodically check for conversations that should be auto-saved (paid tier) and to refresh your license status.
• activeTab — to read the currently active tab's conversation content when you manually trigger a save.
• Host access to extensionpay.com — solely to check your paid status and process payments.
• Content script access on the five supported AI chat sites — this is how the extension reads the conversation currently visible on the page. It does not run on any other websites.

Data retention and deletion

Saved conversation files are regular files on your computer — you manage and delete them the same way you would any downloaded file. The local save-history record and settings remain in browser storage until you remove the extension or clear your browser's extension data.

Children's privacy

Prompt Vault is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. If we ever change what data this extension collects or how it's used in a way that goes beyond what's described here, we will proactively disclose that change to you — not just quietly update this page — before or at the time that change takes effect. Continued use of the extension after a disclosed change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
